Vertical Helix Scan is a dizzying swirl of sci-fi/horror score vibes created by the synth/drum trio SOMAFREE INSTITUTE. On this brooding EP the band locks into science fiction dread and deep space prog that fans of Zombi, Sinoia Caves, and Le Matos will find hard to resist. The dual synth attack of Andrew Crawshaw and Justin Thomas Kleine builds a sonic wall of circuital force, while drummer Tim Call gives the songs a rock solid rhythm section.
